Summary of the Position: The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice in partnership with Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. is seeking a committed, innovative youth to serve as a Youth Engagement Fellow. The Youth Engagement Fellow will work to ensure that youth voices are included in our efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of the community-based framework. The fellow will participate in strategic planning sessions, visioning sessions, and Newark Pilot Activities. Fellow will help develop materials for visioning sessions to be held in six cities (Atlantic City, Camden, Trenton, New Brunswick, Newark and Paterson ). Engage the Institutes youth councils in focus group discussions about the community-based framework and work to ensure that youth voices are included in our efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of the community-based framework solutions. Help test community-based framework solutions in Newark and help evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the community-based framework solutions and perform other related duties as required and assigned.Required Qualifications:
Qualifications/Requirements: A minimum High School Diploma or GED is required. Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources. Strong communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and passion for social justice issues are essential. Be able work in a team, have proven leadership ability and experience handling youth related responsibilities. Strong self-direction and ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
