Mission or Goal of Unit

To ensure that all faculty in the School of Medicine have ongoing access to programs that promote physical, intellectual, psychological and emotional health.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

To promote, implement and measure faculty wellness programs and professionalism.

Position Responsibilities

This position is a 25% commitment, which would replace a portion of the responsibilities of the faculty member who assumes this role.
Helps develop and promote regular program schedules to provide creative and value-added classes, programs, and activities for faculty.
Maintains records, documentation and reports for wellness programs and initiatives.
Develop and collaborate on the ability to monitor effectiveness and metrics
Help plan, implement and communicate to faculty regarding wellness and professionalism initiatives, outcomes and events
Prepares and maintains records and database support data for wellness program metrics.
Works with the professionalism committee and the Senior Associate Dean on professionalism issues.

Required Qualifications

A MCVP and VCU Full time faculty member who must have medical staff privileges at VCUHealth system and thereby knowledge of the wellness and professionalism issues related to Clinical faculty. A working knowledge of basic health sciences and the wellness and professionalism issues related to Teaching and Research Faculty. Prior work on wellness and professionalism initiative. Must possess the ability to move from concept to implementation, have demonstrated program management experience and have strong data collection and analysis skills.
Must be an independent thinker who can also work effectively as part of several teams in a high-matrix organization.
Effective organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at the same time and adaptability to changing priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities and problem solving skills;
Ability to independently research best practices and make effective recommendations using creativity and critical thinking skills;
Ability to function independently and as a team member.
Positive attitude and caring demeanor a must.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .
