Responsible for the daily management and operation of producing sealant and intermediate products. This includes safety, housekeeping, raw material management, intermediate product inventory management, manpower control, product quality, productivity and cost control. Off shift (second / third shift / weekends) managers are assigned to specific operating departments to supervise the employees and the activities of the department. Production will operate on a 24 hour 7 day basis. Managers assigned to these positions are expected to follow the plan as prepared by the Production Manager of the area.

Job Requirements

Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for 35 union operators on a 7 day 24 hour operation; operators in the manufacture and packaging of sealant products.
Insure daily coordination of raw material deliveries to the department to maintain adequate inventory levels for a all shifts operation (including weekends);
Manage the inventory of label stock needed for all primer production & scheduling of the following hazardous raw materials & intermediates (1 bulk polyol) to minimize on site inventory. TDI 80, Bulk MDI, Butylamine, Heptane, Activator intermediate and (Diol)
Responsible for insuring operators perform their jobs in a safe manner following all prescribed safety practices of Sika Corporation.
Initiates required work orders to maintain equipment operability
Lead the daily cell team to insure product availability to our customers and resolve internal issues which limit our ability to achieve that goal.
Manage all personnel issues (vacation scheduling, sick day monitoring, etc) following both the contract and human resource policies.
Maintain department performance statistics as identified by the Director of Operations including (production volumes, labor hours worked, O/T labor hours, department project hours, OEE measurements etc)
Investigate and document all safety and environmental incidents in the department under the direction of the Director of Operations/Environmental Manager
Acts in the role of first line management in all grievance issues.
Management of all inventory related activities including cycle counts, issuance of material destruction notices, rework product activities, shop order variance reporting, product yield monitoring and reporting etc.
Maintain operating knowledge (including the issuance of S.O.Ps) in regards to all production and auxiliary equipment involved in High viscosity and Intermediates manufacturing.
Direct all purchasing related activities in maintaining operating supplies for the department.
Responsible to act in the role of plant manager in regards to employee evacuation and contacting police/fire department personnel in case of an emergency. Notification of production manager director of operations & the health and safety manager for assistance and direction
Responsible for the training of all operators in the performance of their responsibilities including following all safety and quality procedures established in the department.
Monitor the accuracy and completeness of all process instructions and in process quality checks assuring compliance with S.O.P. and ISO procedures
Responsible for the performance of all safety equipment. Initiates required work orders to maintain equipment operability.
Coordinate the production schedule as directed by the Production Manager in reaching the production objectives of the department.
Participates in all plant initiatives such as ISO 9000, Lean Manufacturing, and Problem Solving Teams etc. in upgrading the performance of the plant.


Qualifications/Experience:
5+ years experience in chemical process industry and/or manufacturing environment, including first line supervisory experience in a union environment.
B.S. Engineering, with concentration in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial engineering.
Experience with packaging equipment a very big plus
Good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of Project Management Techniques (Microsoft Project)
Leadership and integrity, managers by fact, building teams, and achieving results.
Ability to function in a fast paced environment. Capable of changing priorities as conditions dictate
PC computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required
Familiar with Wonderware software driven PLC process equipment.
Able to function in a team driven organization using matrix management
