We are seeking an Assistant Merchant who will play a keyrole in working with the Dog, Gift & Home Merchandising team for allbusiness channels (catalog, e-commerce, and retail). This position will report directly to the DMM, Gift, Dog& Home. It is an individual contributor role and does not involvesupervision of other Associates. This position will interface with allMerchandising personnel as well as Product Design & Development,Merchandise Planning, Creative, and others as needed.
This position is based in our Home Office in Sunderland,Vermont. Our Vermont location is a dog-friendly office, so you may have afew 4-legged office mates as well. Orvis Dogs at Work
Attend assortment planning meetings and work with teamon specific areas for the men's assortment
Assist with assortment management in AssortmentPlanning/Item Planning (AP/IP) tool
Assist with seasonal Retail assortment development
Coordinate Dog, Gift & Home Retail merchandisingdirectives
Assist in 3rd party vendor/assortment management
Develop full familiarity with all new and repeat items
Proof product information in catalog copy
Follow up on assigned catalog proofing questions
Adjust product descriptions and issue prompts and otherordering specifics two weeks before in-home date
Evaluation will be evaluated on position responsibilitiesas well as defined financial measurements.
Ability to effectively build relationships with otherfunctional areas in the organization
Exceptional attention to detail and strong follow up
Ability to anticipate and meet deadlines and to work onmultiple projects
Foundational understanding of the Product Developmentprocess
Alignment with the company Core Values
A four-year College degree in related business fieldsuch as Product Design and Merchandising and/ or equivalent experience in aretail environment, specifically focused on merchandising
Proficient in MS Office Suite
