Open Sky Community Services is a human service agency that provides counseling services and treatment options to people facing challenges. The NCR program provides a therapeutic living environment for young men and women between the ages of 18 and 22 with mental health challenges. The program goal is to help young adults referred by the Department of Mental Health to develop independent living skills, healthy relationships, personal independence, and the skills to manage their illness. The program has an on-site clinician and vocational day programming.

Open Sky Community Services agency provides excellent supervision (both individual and group), as well as various trainings in which to obtain CEU’s, and opportunities for advancement. Our agency is an eligible employer for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program and provides tuition reimbursement for continuing education.


The Peer Counselor will pull from their own experience as a recipient of mental health service to provide outreach, support and advocacy to youth served.

Responsibilities include:

  • To provide ongoing support and service interventions to each individual served.
  • To facilitate and participate in recreational activities with youth, on-to-one, or small groups.
  • To provide youth with opportunities to be involved with and stay connected to their parent/guardian and family members.
  • To transport individuals in a safe manner in matters related to service delivery.
  • To provide on-call emergency coverage as assigned.


  • Candidates must be trained youth advocates with lived experience in the mental health or child-welfare system.
  • Eligible candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills and the capability of establishing supportive, trusting relationships with youth and families.
  • Eligible candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, and have a current and valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must be First Aid and CPR certified or certifiable.
