Job Posting Title:Assistant or Associate Director of Assessment, Office of Institutional Effectiveness Position Type:Professional / Unclassified Department:LSUAM AO - IE - Office of Assessment and Evaluation (TARA ROSE (00055067)) Work Location:LSU - Baton Rouge Pay Grade: Assistant Director of Assessment The Assistant Director of Assessment will support the Director of Assessment and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) with student learning assessment efforts related to programmatic assessment, accreditation, program review, and planning. Support for student learning outcome assessment efforts across the university (e.g. academic degree program, stand-alone certificate programs, and general education), including, but not limited to: Monitoring college/department/program institutional reporting compliance; Provide formal feedback on annual program level assessment reports and program impact reports; Delivering workshops as requested; Acts as a resource for faculty and staff in academic programs and administrative units through consultations on program assessment, including development of valid and reliable assessment methods, analysis and interpretation of results, reporting of results, and use of results to improve programs; Supports the Director in the administration of rubric-base scoring of student artifacts for assessment, including determination of appropriate rubrics, adaptive development of rubrics, recruitment and training of scorers, verification of inter-rater reliability, interpretation of data, preparation of summary reports and dissemination/presentation of student learning outcomes assessment results. Works with faculty and staff to develop student learning assessment processes, supports the design of statistical studies to provide information about student engagement and institutional conditions that enhance student learning assessment; conduct and interpret institutional learning assessments and surveys (as requested); supports OIE with data analysis and design central to OIE assessment activities related to student learning outcomes, academic program and administrative unit reviews, planning, and accreditation. Maintains knowledge of national trends in higher education assessment; develops and maintains library of assessment and evaluation resources, including online resources related to assessment and strategies and reporting processes. Responsible for ensuring posting of various categories of assessment reports in digital format in a timely and accurate manner. Qualifications Minimum: Master’s in a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in higher education (or K12) and demonstrated knowledge of assessment strategies and descriptive statistics (through experience or coursework). Intermediate to advanced expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word; Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; Strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred: PhD and/or two years of teaching experience. Experience consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators in an education setting. Experience with program-level learning outcomes assessment, survey research and other qualitative approaches to data gathering and analysis. Service on research or assessment teams and experience in coordination of assessment and evaluation projects. Experience in data analysis, interpretation and reporting. Support for institutional effectiveness activities including development and implementation of experimental designs for interpreting success in achievement of strategic goals and development and presentation of formative and summative reports based on interpretation of metrics; participates in consultations and workshops based on analysis and interpretation of assessment results. Qualifications Minimum: PhD in a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in higher education (or K12) and with demonstrated knowledge of assessment strategies (e.g. graduate level coursework) and descriptive statistics (through experience or coursework). Advanced expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word; Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators in an education setting. Experience with program-level learning outcomes assessment, survey research and other qualitative approaches to data gathering and analysis. Service on research or assessment teams and experience in coordination of assessment and evaluation projects. Experience in data analysis, interpretation and reporting. Preferred: Two years teaching experience.
