HOURS:? Fulltime, 0.8 FTE, 64 hours/2weeks.??Monday thru Friday, no weekends or holidays.? Combinations of 8, 10 & 12 hour shifts?available.?
SUMMARY:? Provides care for inpatient Duke Street and WBH wound and ostomy patients and supports nursing staff in wound care and education.? Provides comprehensive direct nursing care to patients with wounds, ostomy or incontinence issues. Supports the educational needs of health care professionals, and the community as an expert in the field of wound and ostomy management. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups:? neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal (birth to 30 days), pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above).
FUNCTIONS:
Documents relevant patient care information impacting the plan of care placing emphasis on achievement of patient outcomes.
Develops educational tools for Wound and Ostomy Care to enhance the learning process and to promote discharge planning.? Educates nursing personnel and other health care providers regarding wound and ostomy evidence based care. ??
Evaluates and monitors effective skin care protocol and utilization of specialty beds.
Collaborates with the professional nurse directing the patient?s care to assist in establishing a patient assessment focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions.
Functions as a resource person in the education and counseling of wound and ostomy care to patients/significant others to assist ??in meeting their learning and emotional needs
REQUIREMENTS:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.?
National certification by the Wound Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)
A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
Two (2) years of experience in a clinically related field preferred.
Previous experience leading support groups/counseling preferred.
Strong communication/interpersonal skills preferred.
