Whilst you will be based in London, this exciting role will required working closely with all our global offices and require travel from time to time, although it is not a necessity. It is expected that first month will be understanding how the business works, and conducting a data capability gap analysis. As this work progresses, this person will be gaining great insight into the day to day working of IG. The second month will then be starting to put together a framework with supporting roadmap and seeking approval for plan. After this, focus will be on using the rest of 2020 to implement the plan and grow a new team where necessary.
Job Responsibilities: Understand current data capability considering future company strategic targets, previous audit findings and research already completed. Establish and roll out a new enterprise wide framework that is suitable for size and scale of IG Group. This will consider policy upgrade work, embedding strong classification into business but ultimately seek to always meet the balance of managing our information risks whilst supporting business initiatives. Build strong and effective relationships with data related teams and establish relevant workgroups facilitating the development and implementation of data quality standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise. Define effective KPIs and KRIs and supporting quality metrics. Continue to implement a healthy set of data related policies and retain compliance with data protection regulations. Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services. Lead and manage the day to day of the Data Governance team. Own any audit items identified and work with Audit through to remediation. Overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality and protection of data.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical, research skills, combined with the ability to formulate solution options to challenges faced.
The successful candidate will possess an expert understanding of data governance and a good level understanding of technology in general.
Must be a self-starter with minimal guidance, providing weekly updates in the team meetings. Be able to engage and build strong working relationships with a variety of IG stakeholders.
Experience: Experience in implementing data frameworks and associated protection processes within a company and have a good understanding of data protection laws and regulations. Experience in implementing a new data classification system with supporting awareness. Experience of implementing GDPR related processes including Privacy Impact Assessments and Vendor Assessments. Knowledge of common security threats and risks. Experience with security testing tools, development of threat assessments and security testing methodologies is desirable. Strong understanding of technology and governance in general. Lead, motivate and manage large technical teams. Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions and tools useful.
Essential Upper Second Class (or better) degree. 5-10 years of managing in a senior-level data management role Knowledge of data governance practices (DCAM), business and technology issues related to management of product content data. Demonstrable experience of managing data risks.
Essential Strong analytical and investigation skills. Knowledge of data related emerging trends and issues. Must have implemented data governance frameworks. Must be able to work effectively with auditors / regulators and variety of business stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to build and foster customer relationships. Ability to handle fluctuating workloads, conflicting priorities and concurrent activities. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
