HKS seeks to reinforce its position as one of the world’s most influential design firms by improving its market visibility and recognition. The Communications Manager will collaborate with our leadership team to create and implement external communication campaigns that support business objectives in key markets – Aviation, Health, Hospitality, Commercial, Education and Sports.
The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller with a passion for the design industry. You are a self-starter and motivated communicator who is skilled at extracting and telling high-impact stories across multiple platforms, including social media, web site, events and traditional and trade media.
Tasks include (but not limited to):
Gain an understanding of our business strategy, projects, research and stories to craft integrated communication campaigns (not one-off communications). Leverage all available communication channels to execute communication campaigns (conferences, in-office events, media relations, social media, HKS web site, e-marketing, etc.). For example:
Materials development: draft written content, including project case stories, byline articles, white papers, blog posts, web site content, social media posts, award entries, marketing collateral, e-marketing (does not include RFPs and bids) Public and media relations: liaise with Global Public Relations team to raise profile in key media outlets. This will involve creating an editorial calendar, creating PR opportunities, developing strong relationships with targeted reporters and placing stories. Social media: guide our leadership on social media best practices (instruct them on how to use their channels strategically), liaise with the Firmwide Social Media manger on content strategy and develop social media content. Event strategy: collaborate with sector and office leadership to create events (inside our office) that engage clients, the design community and our own employees
Collaborate with global MarComm team: partner with the MarComm team of writers, designers, producers and strategists to support your communication programs. Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.
Fluency with global trends shaping the architecture industry – as well as our clients’ industries Excellent written and verbal communications skills Experience collaborating with and advising senior and executive leadership Fluency in social media Able to apply sound judgment while working independently within tight timelines Strategic and independent thinker and planner Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to excellence Great interpersonal skills; able to forge trusting relationships within a diverse team Proficiency in standard Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
