The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining systems and equipment used to monitor and control machinery and processes.
The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer ensures these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely.
The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer position will require proven process knowledge, testing, and quality standards, and in addition, analyze and identify continuous process improvement opportunities in these areas.
The role is multidisciplinary, working closely with colleagues across several functions, such as process engineering, operations, project engineering and information systems (IS).
The position will require this person to train and mentor other Controls and Instrumentation Engineers.
This position will need to understand project concepts, flow sheets, equipment specifications and layouts that incorporate industry wide best practices.
Design, develop and document new control systems as well as design modifications to existing systems
Provide programming development instructions for, programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI) and process networks
Participate in the development, implementation and compliance of plant process network standards Liaison with consultants, contractors and suppliers
Purchase equipment specific to instrumentation, control and network systems
Analyze data and present findings in clear written reports
Learn plant operations and existing systems (control, network, data management, etc.)
Calibrate instrumentation, tune control loops and optimize advanced controls and expert control systems
Degree in control and instrumentation engineering or other engineering curriculum with controls and instrumentation experience Minimum 6 years' experience controls and/or process engineering experience in industrial process control or equivalent industry Demonstrated skills in specific control disciplines such as: o       advanced process control (APC) o       multiple-input & multiple-output (MIMO) with model predictive control (MPC) o       distributed control systems (DCS) o       programmable logic controllers (PLC) o       supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Excellent critical thinking skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong team working skills, with an ability to motivate and engage others PandoLogic.
