The VP, Data Operations will be expected to drive operational excellence by instilling best practices and operational rigor across the entire data management process spanning data source identification and acquisition, initial onboarding, ongoing production, and operational warehouse architecture and structure and availability, including all necessary reference data management. He/she will be responsible for successfully managing and engaging the team in building and supporting best-in-class process and architecture. Leveraging the existing HealthVerity platform, the VP, Data Operations will enhance the strategy and design of our data warehousing architecture, processes, common data model structures and quality assurance, by defining data architecture standards and data warehouse policies and procedures. Peer review of solutions and implementation is expected.

What you will do

  • Manage, develop and lead our data architecture and data ingestion teams
  • Direct our data provider engagement process for both requirements gathering and data onboarding support
  • Design, develop, deploy, and manage a reliable and highly scalable data pipeline and automated ingestion and normalization process
  • Develop company standards in terms of nomenclature, storage, design, and deployments
  • Perform troubleshooting on all ETL processes and resolve issues effectively
  • Oversee development and maintenance of various database scripts and tools to facilitate the automation process
  • Provide support to all data warehouse initiatives
  • Oversee development of relevant Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) scripts to move data from unstructured to a common data model
  • Oversee and enhance master data management capabilities
  • Build a QA Automation framework that provides real-time alerts on data ingestion, drop rate, data processing
  • Implement systems for tracking data quality and consistency
  • Work closely with engineering and system operations teams to ensure clean handoffs between organizations
  • Partner with peers to review solutions and implementation
  • Streamline the entire data ecosystem from end to end to ensure the most efficient, structured, standardized, privacy compliant processes possible
Professional Experience/Qualifications
To date, HealthVerity has successfully executed a data management model during the early phase of the companys lifecycle, successfully onboarding and maintaining data from over 75 diverse large-scale national healthcare and consumer data sources. The incoming VP, Data Operations will concentrate HealthVeritys efforts on building / expanding process management to enable the seamless integration of even more novel data, ensuring that the company has a high-reliability, highly agile process in place to support future growth.

The ideal candidate must be passionate about leading by being in the trenches, and will be experienced with relevant data management knowledge. The VP, Data Operations will likely have a background growing and hardening a companys data pipeline and data architecture. Recognized as an experienced leader with the ability to galvanize a team, this individual has experience in attracting, training, and managing top talent, and has implemented innovative and effective data management processes that led to significant data quality and throughput improvements. Possessing a hands-on, lead-from-the-front style as well as passion for success, the ideal candidate can quickly assimilate into their new surroundings, assess the team, capabilities and overall strategy, and immediately drive positive change. He/she will lead authorship of HealthVeritys operational data plan and process, and drive execution of the plan.

Key Responsibilities
HealthVerity has built an amazing set of software assets and a highly scalable methodology and marketplace for linking both identified and de-identified patient data, provisioning a non-exclusive, facilitative business model that allows for the commercialization of unique datasets across an interoperable tech platform. In short, HealthVeritys eCommerce engine supports the common good of data acquisition without disintermediating its data partners, while deftly supporting HIPAA requirements.

The company is well-funded ($25M raised in the spring of 2019, $42M total) and has rapidly grown revenue over the past two years. In 2019, headcount doubled to nearly 80 FTEs, with an expectation of similar growth in 2020. HealthVerity is seeking to attract a player / coach type of sales executive to help drive sales growth. This is a newly created position and the incoming Senior Vice President, Sales will function as a foundational member of HealthVeritys success as an organization, working closely with both Co-Founders, CEO Andrew Kress and COO Andrew Goldberg, and collaborating with the rest of the leadership team. We covet a disciplined and dedicated SVP, Sales capable of growing and leading a team that today consists of [10] highly consultative sellers that have successfully launched a commercial product and licensed data to an array of stakeholder / buyers within pharma / pharma services organizations. The incoming sales leader will be expected to recruit and retain top sales talent to rapidly expand the companys sales coverage, maximizing top line growth by increasing market share via both new logo acquisition and increasing revenue from existing accounts. This role will own all prospects and customers and take responsibility for overseeing the coordination of resources and managing sales campaigns across the entire opportunity pipeline from cradle to grave.

The HealthVerity VP, Data Operations will possess the following background and qualities:

  • 10+ years of experience in database management and data warehousing
  • 10+ years of experience with ETL of healthcare data including EMR, claims, and pharmacy data
  • Experience using distributed computing for high performance manipulation of data at scale
  • Understanding of healthcare IT standards such as ANSI 837, NCPDP, HL7, and FHIR
  • Experience in building and managing a top-performing data operations team
  • Team player who works collaboratively with colleagues, management and staff across all levels of a cohesive organization
  • Experience in managing people, processes and technology to drive efficiency and repeatability
  • Process-driven, a believer in a zero-error rate data management objective
  • Understands the needs and challenges of a mission-critical data environment
