Program Manager - Meetings & Events
**What you'll do...** **:**
Serve as the lead advisor to H&R Block for strategic meeting planning and event design to achieve desired experience and engagement outcomes.
Partner with senior leaders and internal departments to define program objectives, schedules, required resources and measurements of success for all live events.
Develop and present proposals to senior leaders and other internal stakeholders, as appropriate.
Contribute creative ideas that provide branded experiences aligned with H&R Blocks purpose to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.
Develop budgets with the Vice President of Corporate Communications, analyze previous years expenditures, project anticipated revenues and expenses; control expenditures as per budget parameters, approve invoices and track expenses.
Lead and/or participate in H&R Block stakeholder team meetings and committee planning sessions.
Establish and implement processes as it relates to roles in the delivery of events.
Meetings and Events Management Responsible for managing planning, attendee experiences and budgets with external meetings & events agency support.
Establish and implement processes to effectively manage sourcing, hotel/venue selection, contract negotiation and execution for all meetings and events in accordance with H&R Blocks contracting policy.
Conduct site visits as necessary, manage timelines, budgets, and work with third-party agency vendor.
Responsible to review and approve logistical elements including attendee communications, registration website, mobile app, function space planning, food & beverage, room block utilization, sponsor/exhibit/tradeshow plans, breakout session rotations, speaker prep, multi-media, audio visual equipment, webcast plan, technical specifications, permits, licensing, pre-production, creative and content aspects of all events.
Monitor program objectives and ensure attendee experiences are in alignment with company strategy, brand and desired outcomes.
Meetings and Events Implementation Responsible for implementation of meetings and events that achieve the objectives and measurements of success as defined by H&R Block internal clients.
Maintain positive working relationships with hotels, outside suppliers, and agency partners to achieve successful outcomes.
Monitor contract performance for all programs, including the execution of after-action reviews for continuous improvement.
Implement best practices to mitigate any potential loss or liability.Effectively handle conflicts and challenges; anticipate and respond proactively to potential situations.

**What you'll bring to the team...** **:**
Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management, Communications, Business or a related field required.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation required.
Five years experience as a senior level meeting professional.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts
Knowledge of policies that apply to this position
Knowledge of hospitality market trends used in negotiating contractsStrong experience with hotel contract negotiations
Ability to make objective decisions using sound judgment
Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships with various vendors
Ability to adapt quickly to a constantly changing environment
Ability to work under pressure, follow through on assignments and balance competing priorities
Commitment to sound business ethics and high level of integrity and transparency
Ability for frequent overnight travel (15-20% annually)
