Responsibilities Our Data and Analytics consultants help clients maximize the value of their data. This high performing team helps clients define their information strategy, architecture and governance, get the most value from business intelligence and analytics, and implement enterprise content and data management solutions to enable business insights, reduce cost and complexity, increase trust and integrity, and improve operational effectiveness. Qualifications Responsibilities: The data modeler works with data analysts and developers to design databases and data extracts that meet organizational needs using conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Models are designed to improve efficiency and outputs, and may focus on issues such as reducing data redundancy or improving data movement across systems using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that expose data and application functionality for use by developers and users. The data modeler will be involved with discovering, analyzing, and specifying changes to how software systems create and maintain information and data You will employ tools and techniques used to understand and analyze how an organization should collect, update, store and exchange data and perform the following tasks:o Defining business users' data requirements o Identify areas where data can be used to improve business activities o Develop data flows and propose/implement innovative data solutionso Work closely with the database engineers to create optimal physical data models of datasetso Create and maintain data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systemso Define and employ data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologieso Set standards for document naming, security, lifecycle and retention architecture using the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) which is a common vocabulary that enables efficient information exchange o Make recommendations for standardization and proper data usageo Champion the usage of data in business and communicate the benefits and return on investment for application customers and system ownersRequired: Secret clearance 5 years of relevant experience Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training or work experience. Analytical and creative thinking skills Ability to evaluate problems and develop appropriate solutions Ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical and physical data models Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team Knowledge of the mathematical foundations of statistical inference and forecasting such as time series analysis, multivariate analysis, cluster analysis, and optimization Ability to quickly learn and adapt modeling methods from case studies or other proven approachesDesired Professional Skills: Working Knowledge and experience with the Navy's personnel systems. 5 years of experience with any of the following:o Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modeling (Kimball)o Using business intelligence tools to represent insightso Dimensionally modeled datao Translating/mapping relational data models into XML and Schemao ER/Studio Data Architecture and Database Design Softwareo Sparx Enterprise Architecto Microsoft Visioo Oracle SQL Developer Data Modelero CA Erwin CompTIA Security or equivalent IAT Level II certification is a plus AWS, Linux, Oracle, etc., related technical certifications are a plus Additional Requirements This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment verification.The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.
