Job Description


As a Senior Associate, Grants & Foundations, you will work across Global Citizen’s Global Policy & Government Affairs team to support our funded partnerships with foundations, governments, and multilateral institutions.


This is an exciting and dynamic role that will be responsible for ensuring timely engagement and correspondence with our key policy funders and help build a strong pipeline of new funders to support our policy-driven campaigns. The Senior Associate will support on the development and execution of funder reporting across our grants to ensure policy funding partners are provided with regular, timely, and comprehensive updates. The Senior Associate will also work with the Director of Grants & Foundations to build out a comprehensive, multi-year grants strategy, as well as support on all aspects of foundation/government/multilateral fundraising including prospecting, grant writing, and funder engagement.


Knowledge of our core policy issues - health, nutrition & agriculture, education, water & sanitation, climate, and gender equality - is not essential, but would be valuable. The position will require strong storytelling skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the team with colleagues based in New York and across our global offices. The Senior Associate must be able to perform the range of required responsibilities with a high degree of autonomy.


Strong organizational and communication skills are required.


Responsibilities


Primary responsibilities will include:


  • Coordinating across country offices to prepare compelling and clearly written monthly and annual narrative reports on Global Citizen’s policy work for major global foundations/policy funders


  • Working with the Director of Grants & Foundations in the drafting of compelling grant proposals and concept notes highlighting the impact and opportunities aligned with our advocacy model


  • Identifying new donor prospects to financially support Global Citizen’s policy and advocacy campaigns


  • Assist the Global Policy & Government Affairs team in proactively engaging with a range of stakeholders, partners, policy makers, and audiences for advocacy initiatives including foundations, multilateral institutions, and high-level government officials


  • Work with the Global Policy & Government Affairs team on additional tasks as needed including supporting on major global events such as the Global Citizen Festival through managing partners and/or high-level dignitaries


Essential Selection Criteria

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 2-3 years’ professional experience in a grants/fundraising role
  • Proven ability to write structured narrative reports, concept notes, and grant proposals
  • Strong project management skills, including time management, and ability to work collaboratively to execute on internal reporting processes
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent research, analysis, synthesis, and presentation skills
  • Active team player with strong interpersonal skills and capacity to develop and maintain effective professional relationships as well as ability to steward funder relationships and work collaboratively across the policy team to engage with funding partners
  • Sound judgment and proven ability to work under pressure, shift priorities without dropping the ball on ongoing tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to contribute effectively as a member of a small team and achieve results with limited direction in a fast-paced environment
  • A proven interest in international development and/or public policy and/or exposure to development issues
