Material Procurement Specialist

This role is responsible for the effective management of procurement and material stores for railroad operations, ensuring that materials are available at the required quantities, and ensuring materials, tools and equipment are stored, managed and distributed to the maintenance teams to maintain vehicle availability and sustain fleet performance.

Material Procurement Specialist responsibilities: Responsible for the management of materials, to include goods in, storing, packaging, dispatch and returns Monitoring stock allocations to ensure the correct parts are allocated and inventory value levels are monitored. Ensure receipt, issuance, warranty process, and inventory control measures of materials from all direct and indirect suppliers / vendors. Manage favorable inventory levels in an ever increasing improve tune ratio (min/max) Interface with vendors and chain of command seeking efficiencies and supplier / vendor quality compliance Ensure parts information is recorded accurately and maintained in Infor EAM Control stock returns and customer owned stock Produce reports for stock value, stock turn, service levels in line with agreed procedures Process supplier invoices by the end of each accounting period where required Conduct weekly/monthly/quarterly cycle count and submits status to the maintenance manager. Liaise with Engineering and Technicians to ensure stock is to the required standards
Material Procurement Specialist job requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Supply Chain. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Valid driver's license Experience in a manufacturing / production environment, perhaps a recent Graduate with some work-based experience or placement year; a seasoned supply chain professional with great interpersonal skills, good ideas and strong customer facing experience. Experience in forecasting, logistics and scheduled production in heavy industry / railroad maintenance Knowledge of strategic sourcing strategies for program execution Proficiency in assets management programs, specifically Infor EAM Exhibited ability to communicate, both orally and in writing; effective conveyance of initiatives to chain of command. Abilities / willingness to work within ISO and Lean principles Microsoft Office proficiency: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Skype, and SharePoint Potential for up to 30% travel Subject to background check and drug screen.
