Job Description

The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining PC's, laptops, peripherals, and assisting with the maintenance of the KC-10 TS Virtual Private Network (VPN) and the KC-10 TS LAN. This includes printers, appropriate software, and support of PC-based hardware and software systems. Performs routine maintenance, configuration, support, and testing of PC hardware, software, peripheral equipment, communication, and network components. Maintains an inventory of capital assets including computers, peripherals, software, and other assets. Updates and maintains software for LAN and CBE servers and workstations. Develops, configures, maintains, and updates the KC-10 TS web site. Assists end users in the operation of various software programs. Maintains, prioritizes, and arranges maintenance support for desktops, laptops, peripherals, etc. Assists in preparing training sessions as required on individual or group basis. Installs approved software on local workstations. Basic LAN administration functions such as adding users, assigning passwords, and security. Performs System Backups and maintains Backup Rotation Schedule. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge of current security best practices in a DoD environment, and should be comfortable analyzing the current security posture of the network and making recommendations to improve the mission and/or security posture of the system.

Skills/Experience Requirements

Current Secret Security Clearance is required.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with administrators at other sites to troubleshoot and maintain concurrent network and hardware configurations required.

Basic knowledge of DOS and Windows operating systems

Basic knowledge of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access

Basic knowledge of Novell and Microsoft NT network operating systems

Basic knowledge of communications principles (voice & data)

Any relevant DoD IAT Level 1 or higher network or security certification (A+, Network+, SSCP, etc.) is required.

The ability to clearly communicate with and troubleshoot/resolve issues in coordination with other technical personnel is required.

The ability to communicate status to management and government personnel is required.

1 year of relevant technical experience is desired.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in a related field or equivalent technical experience is highly desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Certifications, Etc.)

Active Secret Security Clearance
Security+, Relevant IAT Level 1 or higher network certification
Travel up to 5% required.
