Position Overview

The Director of Sales will be responsible for overseeing the sales strategy and managing the Sales team for Diligent s State and Local Government business in the US and Canada, including both New Business and Expansion activities. The Director will report to the Vice President of Sales and will also have personal sales and expansion targets. This role can be based either remotely from home or from our Arlington, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devising and overseeing client and territory strategies for the sales team.
  • Works with Product marketing and development to enhance and evolve product and features messaging based on buyers and market
  • Weekly meetings with individual team members
  • Weekly meetings with the VP of Sales
  • Coaching and individual growth sessions based on Quarterly goals defined by Director
  • Oversight of pipeline reviews, forecasting, and monthly commitments
  • Conduct team reviews and appraisals
  • Compile and analyze sales data to drive sales process improvements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to type and/or manage laptop or personal computer keyboard for the purpose of internal and external electronic communication.
  • Ability to see and hear and communicate verbally

Mental Requirements

  • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
  • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions
  • Ability to make decisions which have moderate to significant impact on the immediate team and division and stakeholders/colleagues and be able to monitor that impact

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 5-10 years of SaaS or software sales experience
  • 3-5 years of team leadership experience in SaaS/Software sales
  • Significant experience selling into State and/or local government client segments
  • Ability to manage influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus building
  • Experience with sales funnel management and structuring sales quota and revenue expectations
  • Dedicated focus on forecasting accurate and achievable results
  • Passion for revenue and growth
  • Deep understanding of value drivers in recurring revenue business models
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset
  • Strategic planning and implementation skills, ability to think ahead
  • Employee training and development expertise
  • Enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire others
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
