  • You will serve as a Inventory Management Specialist in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.

    THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT. The Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY 2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions as shortage positions and recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions.

    Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities vary and increase according to grade level. You will resolve overall supply support issues related to the particular items managed under their Local Routing Codes (LRC's). You will analyze requirements to meet customer needs for your assigned items. You will analyze and evaluate the portions of provisioning related to Inventory Management. You will process requisitions for worldwide support for material that cannot be satisfied automatically.

    Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Positions may be in any DAWIA Career Field at Level I, II, or III. This position may be designated Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). You must be a member of the Acquisition Corps, become a member, or obtain a waiver at the time of selection and sign a three-year tenure agreement prior to assuming the position. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You may be subject to random testing. You may be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment. Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. Those selected for a supervisory position will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101. Position selected for may or may not be under a bargaining unit. Warrant authority above the small purchase threshold may be required.

    Qualifications

    GS-05:
    Your resume must also demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the ability to: 1) Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2) Plan and organize work; and 3) Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Qualifying experience includes the following: 1) Dealing with diverse problems; 2) Utilizing policies and procedures applicable to Inventory Management and other phases of supply support; and 3) Adhering to storage and distribution requirements;

    Education

    Applicants may substitute education for experience in the following situations:

    GS-05: Successful completion of a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

    GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education; OR successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement; OR have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

    NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
