Our client is a rapidly growing, revenue positive startup based in New York City which specializes in developing explainable AI solutions for decision making. With clients in financial services, digital advertising, software, and media, this company develops 'white box' solutions to manage financial and operational risks, and works with C-level executives to transform how an enterprise manages its decision making process using analytics. A tight knit company with employees from the entry level to the C-suite building solutions hands-on, you'll have an excellent opportunity to learn advanced statistics and machine learning capabilities, and work within a fun and motivated team.

Our client is hiring for a number of junior and mid-level data scientist positions - they have roles suitable for high school students, experienced PhDs and everyone in between. No matter what level you're applying for, applicants must have very strong Python coding skills, good communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get whatever needs to get done to move a project forward.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Strong Python coding for data pulling, data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, basic statistical analysis.

Ability to use the pandas package well.

Write clean code (well-commented, appropriate variable names, modular, unit tests, log files, sensible exception handling, PEP8 compliant, ...).

Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to work independently, take ownership of your work and get things done.

Solid working knowledge of Statistics 101. You should know how to perform univariate tests, linear regression, .. and understand when things can go wrong.

OPTIONAL, BUT A PLUS: Working knowledge of how common machine learning algorithms actually work (ridge regression, xgboost, natural language processing)

OPTIONAL, BUT A PLUS: Implement models using scikit-learn or other standard Python packages.

***A sample of your Python code will be requested during later stages of the application process - please consider an example that demonstrates your coding abilities for eventual submission***

***Please note that due to the high volume of applicants only those matching the criteria will be contacted***
