Summary:

This position is a hands-on working leader. He / she is a key member of the Avalign IT department with a focus on Desktop Management and Network Administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Desk Side Administration Position is responsible to resolve user desktop issues within the established service level agreements (SLA s) which include but are not limited to:
  • Install, configure, upgrade, maintain and support desktop systems based on customer service requests
  • Contribute and adhere to preventive maintenance procedures to avoid system failures
  • Maintain servers, computers printers, and other software and hardware peripherals
  • Ensure regular back-ups of server files are maintained
  • Troubleshoot technical issues; identify root cause and resolve, escalate complex problems to IT Leadership, provide timely escalation of issues to leadership with thoughtful options for resolution
  • Plan and execute allotted work within deadlines and maintain records of daily tasks
  • Follows policies and procedures related to software acquisition, license, use, support, security, and backup as outlined by Director of Information Technology
  • Ensure project portfolio and prioritization are updated and maintained on a continuous basis
  • Oversee inventory management of software and hardware components
  • Maintain accurate documentations for system installations, configurations, upgrades and disaster recovery activities
  • Install antivirus software and oversee software license renewals


Network Administration Position is responsible for the GSI division s infrastructure including Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), switches, routers, firewalls including but not limited to the following:
  • Support and maintain hardware, software and connectivity components by analyzing the functionality of infrastructure framework and designing and planning and executing major / minor upgrades and changes to ensure reliability and availability
  • Work on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge of one or more specialized platform areas such as network, security, applications, data, systems
  • Align network strategy with Avalign business requirements and IT Strategy
  • Analyze the current network to identify risks and develop opportunities for improvements
  • Provide support for network framework by responding to escalated issues, troubleshooting errors and developing technical solutions to ensure implementation of process improvements
  • Document the design, operation and troubleshooting of network platforms and procedures
  • Participate on the Architecture Review Committee to provide technical expertise to establish standards for Avalign
  • Ensure technical standards are followed when implementing new capabilities
  • Ensure proper communication during all system outages with prior approval prior to downtime
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide end-users with training and support of Microsoft products
  • Provide annual support to budgeting process
  • Provide backup to Avalign help desk support as required
  • Ensure all Avalign required training is completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure all IT help desk tickets are completed in a timely manner with good documentation practices to ensure ticket contains all relevant data to run KPI reports
  • Participate actively in IT department and leadership / key stakeholder meetings and projects
  • Provide regular feedback to IT leaders with opportunities / recommendations for process improvements on IT department operations
  • Travel as required approximately 10%
    • Take on additional projects / activities as assigned by IT Management


Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide functional and technical guidance to supervisors and employees as needed or required
  • Manage 3rd party resources as contracted for specific projects
  • Support team member development by reviewing and analyzing complex infrastructure issues, communicating feedback to team members, sharing knowledge, responding to inquiries and providing recommendations on best practices

  • Education and/or Experience Four-year degree from accredited college / university plus 5 or more years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare ESX, Exchange Server, BackupExec, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access, plus a variety of hardware and software. Project management experience is required. Experience with ERP applications is required.
  • Language Skills - An ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The communications skills to write concise and effective reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. The expertise to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Technical Skills Hands-on, significant experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare ESX, Exchange Server, BackupExec, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access plus a variety of hardware and software a must.
  • Change Management - The skills to develop implementation plans and communicate changes effectively to support those affected by change.

  • All Avalign buildings and grounds are smoke-free.
  • Travel requirements of this position necessitate the ability to travel by car either as passenger or driver with a valid driver s license and accessibility to a personal car, the ability to rent a car with acceptable insurance and driving record, the ability to navigate airports and travel by airplane, and the flexibility to be away from home and accommodated in a hotel overnight for potentially a week or more at a time.
