CLEVELAND CLINIC IS CURRENTLY SEEKING ACUTE CARE NURSE PRACTITIONERS FORA NEWLY DESIGNED CRITICAL CARE HOUSE OFFICER POSITION AT HILLCRESTHOSPITAL. ACUTE CARE NP EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED, HOWEVER CANDIDATES WITHAT LEAST 3 YEARS OF CRITICAL CARE RN EXPEREINCE WILL BE CONSIDERED.AS A CRITICAL CARE HOUSE OFFICER, THE NP WILL RESPOND TO PATIENT CARECALLS AT HILLCREST HOSPITAL. THE COVERAGE WILL BE 24/7 TO INCLUDE DAYAND NIGHT SHIFTS.THE COVERAGE WILL BE FOR ALL SERVICES, AND DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOTLIMITED TO:- PATIENT EVALUATIONS- RAPID RESPONSE/CODES- URGENT PATIENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES (AIRWAY, CENTRAL LINES,A-LINES, CHEST TUBES AND OTHER PROCEDURES- CRITICAL ASSESSMENT OF PATIENTS AS REQUIRED- CONTINUAL COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER PROVIDERS INVOLVED WITH THEADMITTED PATIENTS CARE- AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS NEEDEDALL HIRES WILL GO THROUGH AN IN-DEPTH 3 MONTH FULLY PAID TRAINING BEFOREBEGINNING THEIR DUTIES AT EACH HOSPITAL. SCHEDULE WILL BE 13 SHIFTS PERMONTH AND WILL INCLUDE ROTATING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.THE APPROPRIATE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A QUEST FOR TRAILBLAZING, A DESIRETO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL SYSTEM AND WORK WITH AGREAT DEAL OF AUTONOMY YET POSSESS CRITICAL COMMUICATIVE SKILLS WITHOTHER PROFESSIONALS. AS A HOUSE OFFICER, CAREGIVERS WILL LOOK TO YOU ASTHE RESPONDER TO THEIR NEEDS FOR WHOLE HOSPITAL PATIENT CARE.CARE DELIVERED FROM THE CRITICAL CARE HOUSE OFFICER IS RAPID, SHORT TERMAND CONCISE TO ALEVIATE AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE WITH THE HOSPITALIZEDPATIENT. HAND OFFS WILL OCCUR CONTINUALLY TO THE STAFF AND SERVICE OFWHICH THE PATIENT IS ADMITTED.NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A HOSPITALIST ROLE, THE HOUSE OFFICER WILLOVER-SEE THE CARE OF ALL ADMITTED PATIENTS WITHIN THE REGIONALHOSPITAL. ALL SERVICES CAN AND WILL CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE HOUSEOFFICER.*Sign-on bonus or loan forgiveness benefits available to thosecandidates who qualify***Summary:** With the collaboration of a Physician, (as per O.R.C.4730) performs complete histories and physicals on patients within theage determined by their certification as it relates to education &clinical training; to establish and record patient's current healthstatus and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to providecontinuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders,chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries.This medical care is in the areas identified above only. APN's areprivileged by the Board of Governors. Base hours exceed other patientcare areas and expectations for 24/7 hour coverage of advanced criticalcare services role provide advanced care to patients with complex,acute, critical and chronic health conditions. Advanced Critical careAPN's practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnosticand therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic healthproblems. APN's also practice in the settings requiring complexmonitoring and therapies and high intensity medical/surgicalinterventions.**Responsbilities: **Conducts thorough medical histories, performscomplete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriatelab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation ofillness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients andhospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's currenthealth status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan withdirect review by a physician. Must be able to work with autonomy withinOhio law under direction of collaborating physician. Performs andinterprets, at least to the point of recognizing deviations from normal,common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routinediagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes asprivileged by CCF Credentialing Board. Performs routine procedures suchas injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simpleconditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the managementof more complex illness and injury which may include assisting surgeonsin conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluationand therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations,as privileged by CCF Credentialing Board. Performs specializedprocedures, including bone marrow aspirations, biopsies and harvest,blood draws, designated IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis andparacentesis as well as other specific procedures as directed by thephysician, following approval by CCF Credentialing Board. Providesinformation and answers routine questions of patients regarding theirdisease, including preventive health maintenance topics such as diet,weight, smoking and topics related to medical specialty, with basicrecommendations. Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments,related drug and treatment side effects and hazards. Assists with recordkeeping, completes appropriate patient medical chart, transcribes labdata and routine correspondence, as directed and reviewed by physician.Refers patients to physicians as appropriate for consultation or forspecialized health resources and treatment. Ensures continuity of careby serving as a liaison between patient and other members of themultidisciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.Performs research follow-up studies as directed by the supervision of aphysician. Assists in data analysis. Participates in quality monitoringthru the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on aperiodic basis to assure quality care. Facilitates appropriate length ofstay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards forinpatient management. May serve as clinical preceptor for APN studentsand other health professionals. Demonstrates a high standard of moraland ethical behavior. Demonstrates compassion and professionalism and acommitment to excellent patient care. Other duties as assigned.**EDUCATION:** Graduate of an accredited APN program. Master's degree inNursing and/or applicable state license through the Ohio Board ofNursing for certificate to practice. Must have Prescriptive authority orimmediately eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the OhioBoard of Nursing.**LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:** Licensed as Registered Nurse(RN) in applicable state, national certification as Nurse Practitioner(APN) by nationally accredited organization, current certificate ofauthority by applicable state Board of Nursing, certificate to prescribe(CTP) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required;Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support(PALS) may be required based upon work setting. COMPLEXITY OF WORK:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability towork with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressfulenvironment and take appropriate action. Management of critically illpatients. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment,diagnosis, treatment plan development and invasive procedures as perclinical privileges.**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:** Depending on practice, surgical fields requireminimum 2 years surgical experience, Critical care experience isdesired.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:** Typical physical demands include ability tolift and position patients ranging in weight from 50 to 350 pounds.Ability to push/pull patients to various positions, to move/push medicalequipment and supplies. Requires extensive walking, sitting and stairclimbing. Ability to obtain safety precautions against blood bornepathogens by using protective gear. Ability to push/pull patients aspart of a team to various positions, to move/push medical equipment andsupplies.
