We are searching for a talented Vice President of Human Resources to be based out of our office in downtown Cleveland, OH. As Vice President of Human Resources for Brookfield Properties Multifamily, you'll provide strategic Human Resources leadership across our operating company, 60 properties, and 500+ employees (and growing). As a member of the leadership team, the head of HR partners with executives to establish and implement strategic objectives, short and long-term goals, and HR strategies. You'll direct the development and implementation of policies and practices, talent management, performance management, and organizational change efforts to enable the organization to reach its strategic imperatives and growth expectations. Brookfield Properties Multifamily is a newly formed entity within Brookfield Properties, the global real estate services company of Brookfield Asset Management, with over 575 properties globally. The HR team is leading the establishment of the culture, core values, and employee value proposition, and building how it will conduct business with its operations partners going forward. This build out phase is significant and for the right person may be an opportunity that only comes along once in their career.

Responsibilities
About This Opportunity
You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, influence company direction, and lead others every day.
Executive and Leadership Team Participation:
* Build a strong relationship with the executive and senior leadership teams, becoming a credible and trusted business partner and coach who adds value by demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the goals, priorities and strategic direction of the business. Provide the team with insights, employment-related data analysis and HR best practices.
* Operate as a member of the broader Brookfield Properties senior HR team, giving feedback on strategy to support organizational direction and culture and ensuring the delivery of high-quality HR processes.
* Coach and counsel across all levels of leadership to improve organizational effectiveness.
HR Team Management and Development:
* Develop and lead a team of HR professionals with the goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal service group that meets the company's growth plans.
* Establish clear objectives and roles and hold team members accountable, ensure high performance and continuous development of HR team members.
Staffing:
* Oversee the Talent Acquisition team in creating and developing innovative and effective recruiting, hiring and on-boarding plans to support the growing talent needs of the organization.
* Ensure we keep ahead of hiring needs by maintaining a continuous pipeline of available talent to support the business.
* Drive employee retention strategies to reduce costs, improve productivity and support company growth plans. Ensure overall turnover is at or below industry benchmarks.
HR Planning:
* Develop Human Capital programs that are aligned with the business strategy. This includes, but is not limited to recruitment, employee development and retention, promotion and compensation processes, as well as employee engagement plans.
* Develop clear and transparent short-term and long-term HR plans that emphasize priorities, accountabilities, timelines and deliverables.
* Evolve current policies and practices to support the organization's dynamic growth.
* Use regular analysis of both internal and market data to inform decision making.
* Partner with the Compensation staff to identify appropriate compensation, using grading and market competitive reward information, oversee the execution of the salary review process, ensure an appropriate link between performance and reward.
* Develop meaningful professional development programs in partnership with the Learning and Development team to focus on internal talent and internal mobility.
* Lead and manage change management and organizational development initiatives.

* With the executive leadership team, clarify and further reinforce the desired company culture to support the long-term success of Brookfield Properties.
* Create a fun and rewarding workplace for all associates, promote a positive environment and culture consistent with the core values and goals of the company.

* Build strong bonds and relationships inside and outside the organization.
* Be well networked professionally and utilize networks to bring new insights and best practices to the organization.

* A Bachelor's degree in General Management, Human Resources, Organization Development, or an equivalent discipline. A Master's degree and/or HR certification is preferred.
* A strategic mindset with the ability to translate business and organizational challenges into concrete HR requirements, building and successfully implementing an HR strategy at a skill level typically gained through 10 years in strategic HR leadership roles.
* Experience managing and developing a high-performing HR team in an operations organization with a geographically distributed workforce.
* Experience as an influencer and change agent.
* Strong expertise in building and successfully implementing people and leadership development as well as organizational development initiatives and processes.
* Expertise in creating and executing Human Capital Plans and driving HR agendas in support of business objectives.
* Experience leading talent efforts to strengthen business capabilities and develop future leaders.
* Successful experience with change management principles and an ability to drive and manage the change process from strategic planning through implementation and follow-through.
* A strong pulse on the external marketplace and internal best practices.
* Strong relationship and consensus-building skills to manage projects in a complex matrixed environment.
* A demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and work with all levels in the organization.
* The ability to use a broad business acumen and holistic perspective to see the opportunities and risks of potential trade-offs.
* Other required skills: extremely high level of diplomacy, confidentiality and trustworthiness, with uncompromising standards for honesty and professional ethics.
