As the Senior Director of New Market Operations, you are responsible for leading and scaling ongoing operations across a footprint of several new Bright Health partnerships and markets. This key role shares accountability with Bright Health's line of business, clinical, quality and growth teams to collectively drive performance in our health plans in each market.

The role has responsibility for several small-to-mid size market areas, offering multiple products in a highly complex system. They collaborate with other Bright Health leaders and will direct the market-based teams that:

  • Manage the strategic partnerships with our Care Partners and top network providers;
  • Manages the network performance to deliver affordable, high quality health care; and
  • Assures the growth and vitality of Bright Health's insurance products.

This role impacts Care Partners and key provider awareness, satisfaction, partnership and clinical effectiveness by ensuring we have a successful approach to supporting the development and implementation of Care Partner/Bright Health quality and clinical programs, panel and attribution growth initiatives and advancing Care Partner primary care delivery models. The role collaborates closely with Bright Health's internal clinical, analytic and growth teams, as well as our Care Partners and top provider practices, while overseeing a team that is the face of in your market.

The Senior Director, New Market Operations is a critical member of the Market Success team, supporting the expansion of Bright Health's markets across the country through the development of use of scaled reporting, processes, governance, and tools. This role is accountable for supporting national market success and the company's performance by developing and maintaining our strategy and best practices for launching and advancing Bright's relationship with our Care Partners, network partners, and aligned providers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Operations for Several Small-to-Mid Size New Markets:
  • Serve as primary point of contact for multiple partner executives from implementation to ongoing market operations
  • Accountable for early performance across multiple markets until local market leadership is retained and onboarded
  • Successfully execute Bright's Care Partner and Network provider partnerships and performance within your assigned territory.
  • Provide expertise and support with deep understanding of Bright Health's products and markets
  • Oversee Local Network Strategy and Performance:
  • Oversee the local network strategy including network development, provider contracting, engagement, renewal
  • Partner with Health Optimization and Bright Implementation Team to implement programs to maintain positive relationships between the health plan, physicians, hospitals, and practice managers
  • Work closely with the Care Partners and providers in the Markets on day-to-day health plan operations
  • Work closely with Care Partners and providers with Bright Health Achieve MCR and quality targets
  • Cultivate Growth in Assigned Market(s):
  • Work closely with Line of Business teams on new market entry strategies, including product launches and market expansions.
  • Partner with the sales team in executing on distribution and sales initiatives to drive high revenue and membership targets
  • Work closely with the DOI and Bright Health legal team to ensure compliance
  • Help Build and Grow the Market Success team:
  • Influence and inform decisions on recruiting, resource allocations, staffing assignments, and budget needs for assigned market(s)
  • Manage a high-performing team that includes direct and matrixed staff, by providing clear direction, regular guidance, and impactful coaching
  • Set goals that align with department and Bright Health annual goals
  • Lead key internal initiatives to drive efficiencies and best practices for market operations; identify process improvement opportunities to be carried forward in future work
  • Build out playbooks to support the Market Leadership team's in-market activities, as well as their collaboration with other areas across Bright Health to support local market objectives.
  • Support in-market teams to help identify cross market issues, escalate to the appropriate individuals, and develop scalable solutions in collaboration with our functional areas.
  • Oversee and track market specific growth activities and related campaigns.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, healthcare administration, or a related field is required; MBA is preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years of client management and/or healthcare operations experience in healthcare, ideally inside provider and payer settings, with knowledge of managed care, network development, or network management
  • Six (6) or more years of management experience
  • Prior Account Management and Team Management experience, serving as the primary client contact with executive sponsors and operations leaders
  • Large project and program management experience.
  • Familiarity with Individual, Commercial and Medicare products, including development and execution of growth and distribution initiatives.
  • Experience working with clinical, sales, and product teams to design and implement programs to maintain positive relationships between the health plan, physicians, hospitals, and practice managers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of work responsibilities are performed in an open office setting, carrying out detailed work sitting at a desk/table and working on the computer. Some travel will be required.
