The Patient Access Registrar is the initialcontact most patients have with the hospital; therefore, his/her role is tocreate a sense of caring and congenial atmosphere for the patient. ThePatient Access Registrar is responsible for registering all inpatient,outpatient, emergency and surgical patients for services. These duties includeinterviewing patients for demographics and insurance information, inputting theinformation into the system, completing appropriate forms, obtaining propersignature(s), advising patients of rights and reasonability and for collectingco-pays and deductibles at time of service. Responsible for answering phonesand directing patients.
Requires: Accurate typingskills and basic experience with computers; ability to communicate andcomprehend accurately and effectively; ability to perform math calculationsaccurately; percentage rates discounts, payments etc.; must possess highquality, positive interpersonal skills; able to work with moderate level ofnoise and interruptions; ability to discuss financial matters in detail overthe phone; ability to ensure customer satisfaction by courteously responding tobilling inquiries, researches account and properly records all accounttracking; and promotes an environment that encourages team building by beingcooperative and courteous with ancillary departments and assisting otheremployees. High School graduate or GED (preferred). Night Shift.
