Sr. Production Manager - Harness

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will oversee the tube fabrication, assemble, and testing of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.


  • Build and manage the Cable Harness Production team, including developing resource plans and profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conduction performance reviews
  • Manage the assembly, test, modification, and repair of production assemblies in order to guarantee achievement of on time delivery, cost and quality
  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people
  • Setup new Cable Harness production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup, etc.
  • Assist with transition from development to production, including qualification schedules and first articles
  • Responsible for the fabrication and/or repair activities of various cable harnesses, including but not limited to signal cables, RF cables, fiber optic cables, high data rate cables, power cables, potting processes, etc.
  • Ensure test systems are setup per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs)
  • Responsible for operational issues found during process testing including but not limited to Hi-Pot, Kelvin setup testing, bandwidth testing, VSWR testing and automated test equipment testing
  • Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control
  • Support vehicle/launch operations installation of open ended harnesses by performing field installations
  • Forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15+ years in a direct supervision/leadership position, working on aerospace development programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques, in both leadership and hands-on roles; experience on aerospace production programs a plus
  • 15 + years with cable harness assemblies and integration of launch vehicles/systems across a range of launch vehicle subsystems including power, signal, fiber optic, and high data rate cables
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances
  • A continuous improvement mindset. Our job is never complete; we are always optimizing
  • Has worked with any of the following: IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, ANSI/ESD S20.20
  • Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen
  • Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities and management and customer decisions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Desired:

  • BS in Engineering discipline
  • Broad/deep scheduling and planning skillset
  • Experience with large project controls
  • Project planning and Integrate Master Schedules
  • Proficiency with resource loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software
  • Experienced in handling large aerospace components
  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
