The SVP, Human Resources is a highly visible key member of Blue Origin's executive leadership team reporting to the CEO. In this role, you'll be accountable for leading the development and execution of the human resource strategy that supports our strategic vision, growth initiatives and leadership principles. You will lead and build a highly capable HR team and function to produce modern and scalable HR approaches, while partnering closely with senior leadership, managers, and the HR team and engaging regularly with employees. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong business, financial, and operational acumen within highly technical, high growth, R&D and production/operations companies of >5,000 employees. In addition, you must have significant Human Resources functional knowledge to guide the development of HR strategies that attract, develop, engage, and retain the talented people required to deliver on our bold vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The successful candidate will possess a strong, diverse background in organizational design and implementation, talent acquisition, strategic workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee development, employee relations, change management, performance management, culture, and compensation and total rewards programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and execution of the HR strategic plan to support rapid growth and change in a rapid pace start-up type environment
  • Serves as a key HR partner to the CEO and senior leadership team broadly supporting the strategic direction and initiatives of the business
  • Provides leadership and direction to all human resources functions, including organizational development and effectiveness, recruiting/hiring, HR business partners, operations, total rewards, and employee relations
  • Builds scalable talent and organizational programs focused on continuously improving operational capability
  • Identifies, analyses, improves and monitors strategic talent and capability needs, gaps, and risks
  • Makes high velocity/high quality decisions and solves complex problems while fully integrating all HR programs such as talent acquisition, learning and development, diversity, equity, and inclusion, talent and performance management, workforce planning, HRIS and data analysis, compensation and benefits, recognition/rewards, and employee engagement
  • Leads the development of a holistic employer brand strategy and employee value proposition across multiple work sites
  • Identifies strategic, leadership, talent, and cultural opportunities and challenges and solves using a systems model approach
  • Champions and promotes an engaged, inclusive, equitable, and diverse organizational culture founded on the Blue Leadership and Mission Assurance Principles
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of ~50 HR professionals
  • Ensures compliance and maintains a thorough knowledge in HR related legal and regulatory requirements including EEO, Fair Labor Standards, Wage and Hour, FMLA, and other regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years managing end to end Human Resources functions
  • Minimum of 10 years directly hiring and managing people/teams
  • Minimum of 5 years in senior most HR leadership position for companies larger than 5,000 people reporting to most senior business leader
  • Significant and thorough knowledge in all disciplines of human resources
  • Successful management of multiple large scale and highly complex transformations or changes
  • Prior relevant experience in a high growth, multi-location, multi-state company environment
  • Has led HR in both engineering and production/manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to energize and inspire others to commit to and take action on business priorities
  • Strong analytical and collaborative problem solving skills
  • Executive level presentation and communication skills
  • Thinks strategically but also focuses on operational excellence and execution and will get in the trenches
  • An established track record of building and leading strong, effective teams
  • Proven track record of a strong leadership, management, coaching, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with budget planning/management and developing short and long-term HR plans aligned to business objectives
  • Ability to motivate and address employees company-wide
  • Passionate and motivated to drive change and deliver results
  • Culturally savvy with proven ability to work alongside and get results with a diverse workforce
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, HR, Industrial Relations, or Organizational Psychology
