Job Description

As a key member of the US Medical Neuromuscular (NM) team within the US Medical Neurology function, the Medical Director is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of US medical strategy and medical launch readiness plans for the product.

Drive and execute on the US medical strategy for Neuromuscular as aligned with global strategy

Serve as a key US Medical contact for important cross-functional partners (e.g. US Field Medical, Global Medical, Clinical Development, Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance, Commercial, Market Access).

Lead US specific data generation projects to address identified medical data gaps in alignment with global guidance and support global data generation activities involving US

Provide medical expertise to and lead cross-functional teams and projects. Represent US Medical at other cross-functional meetings as needed.

As a content expert, review abstracts, publications, medical information letters, internal/external educational materials, and other medical documents as needed.

Lead planning and content development for advisory board meetings and other US Medical initiatives. Present data and lead execution at Medical advisory board meetings, medical trainings, congresses, and other KME engagement venues.

Collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure all medical activities are aligned with global medical strategy and that Global Medical is sufficiently aware of the US-based insights and needs.

Understand the local business needs and provide insights to the local commercial teams to ensure their plans are in alignment with the medical strategy

Qualifications

Experience with neurology/neuromuscular diseases/genetic diseases and/or intrathecal drug administration is a plus

Experience with rare diseases is a plus

Launch experience is a plus

Ability to effectively operate in a highly matrixed organization.

Strong interpersonal, influencing and project management skills.

Ability to take initiative and solve complex and challenging problems.

Excellent communication (particularly both written and oral), leadership, and presentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed

Track record of KME engagement experienceand is seen as a peer by tier 1 KMEs

Experience with products at different stages of the lifecycle is a plus

Relevant experience in Medical Affairs (and/or other pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device industry experience)

Strong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs

People management skills are strongly desired

These experiences are typically achieved over 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and / or a combination of extensive clinical practice (8+ years) in the respective TA

Must have the ability to travel (around 25%)

MD is required
