Job Summary

Boiler Tender Job Description
1)Responsible for performing hourly rounds of stationary high-pressure boilers that supply heat or power for building 35L and 95D.
2)Ability to comprehend basic operating procedure for high-pressure boilers.
3)Ability to read gauges e.g., level, pressure, temperature, and if required record value on associated form.
4)Check the operation of a boiler, applicable auxiliaries and water level in the boiler at such intervals as are necessary to insure the safe operation of the boiler: provided that the maximum interval the boiler and its auxiliaries can be left without checking shall not exceed 60 minutes.
5)Detail orientated. Must be able to inspect boilers for abnormalities e.g., leaks, audible and visual alarms and immediately notify maintenance personnel.
6)Have a basic mechanical aptitude.
7)Good verbal and written communication skills.
8)Complete an OJT on safe boiler operations.
9)Location and shift coverage:
a.35L third shift (M-F) and 24 hour coverage (Sat-Sun)
b.95DD 24/7

Monitor and manage the boiler by going over a check list for each hour of work. Monitor gauges and monitors to make sure the boiler is in working condition.
