Our San Francisco office has built a reputation for visionary planning and has participated in some of the Bay Area's most notable transportation projects, including the Transbay Transit Center, the Concord Naval Weapons Station Redevelopment, and the Presidio Parkway. Digital transformation is a central part of the Arup strategy which is based on four workstreams: Data, Automation, Services and Products. We put data at the heart of our business and use data to optimize our current services through an aggressive program of workflow optimization and automation. The San Francisco/Oakland office is at the forefront of implementing this strategy through innovative use of traffic and transportation data, involvement in intelligent mobility projects and collaboration with data providers and tech companies. We are growing our Integrated Planning team in the Bay Area. We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to provide data analysis and traffic modeling support for transportation planning projects. These include work for the public and private sector relating to multi-modal transportation planning, travel demand analysis and forecasting, traffic impact studies, transit planning, traffic micro simulation, parking, site planning & development, complete streets, pedestrian & bicycle facilities, and integrated land use/transportation planning. Specifically, you will be responsible for: • Performing analyses using a variety of traffic modeling software and other analytical tools • Performing traffic impact analysis / studies as part of the environmental review process • Preparing conceptual street/intersection designs for urban and airport landside environments • Writing reports for internal and external purposes • Presenting technical material in innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences • Providing project management support and communicating directly with clients with regard to technical requirements and deliverables • Understanding trends and best practices in transportation and urban planning • Identifying opportunities for employing digital tools, big data and automation of processes • Participating in local Professional Associations Required • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, or similar field of study, with 6 years of experience in the transportation sector • Familiarity with US planning and engineering practices • Familiarity with California planning laws and development entitlement processes: CEQA, EIR, TIAs, etc. • Experience in data analytics, advanced spreadsheet functionality (e.g. Formulas and functions, pivot tables, basic scripting) • Experience with one or more of the following: Synchro/SimTraffic, Traffix, Visum, Vissim, Cube, TransCAD, Aimsun, Paramics, AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or HCS Bonus Points: • Master's degree • Experience with other analysis, programming, data management or design tools (e.g. Google Sheets, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Illustrator, AutoTurn/AutoTrack, R, Python, SPSS, Arena, SQL, MS Access, etc.) • Experience in travel demand forecasting including trip generation & distribution, activity based models and mode choice • Certification as an EIT or AICP Share your passion and experience in a global culture that believes your potential to achieve is endless.
