Arc Broward, is a well-established accredited, non-profit organization based in Sunrise, Florida. As a communitypartner of Broward Partnership for the Homeless, we are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our mission in serving the vulnerable population of Broward County.

The Kitchen Manager acts as a buffer between the Executive Chef and the rest of the culinary team. The Kitchen Manager will provide high quality standards of kitchen operation and assist in kitchen management in the entire culinary operations.

For more than 60 years Arc Broward has worked hand-in-hand with our community, changing how people with disabilities and other life challenges are embraced and included. This critical work ensures that people with disabilities, not only live, learn, work, and play in their communities, but more importantly, thrive. Arc Broward operates at 10 locations and provides 21 programs throughout Broward County, including its two pioneering Social Enterprises - Arc Educates and Arc Culinary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Must have more than just basic culinary skills and be able to lead in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Will work closely with all culinary staff.
  • Will be responsible for assisting in meal preparation and providing coaching to all parties involved.
  • Will also assist Executive Chef in identifying and tracking trainees progression.
  • Will be the point person on sanitation.
  • Will do daily documented sanitation checks to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Necessary skills to pass state certification for restaurant manager.
  • Degree or comparable experience in food service business with proven track record of successfully managing and being able to teach others.
  • Two or more years experience successfully managing a food service operation, including teaching new employees and or students.
  • Demonstrate strong culinary skills, understands and has experience with food and beverage activities.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with business lines and retail venues including catering, vending and institutional meal production.
  • Prior experience with financial and operational, sanitation and administrative knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, able to lead and direct a team of varied experience levels and be flexible with business demands including evenings and weekends.
  • Position requires driving, including transporting students.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a small group or audience.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to work as a team and adhere to agency, program policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly and effectively with students, colleagues, hospitality and culinary industry professionals
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, always maintains comportment.
  • Reliable, consistent work attendance is a requirement and essential function of this position.
  • Must pass pre-employment Level 2 criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Education/Certification/License:

  • HACCP and/or Servsafe certification
