Vice President, Business Development

Functional Area:SC - Sales Commission Estimated Travel Percentage (%): More than 50% Relocation Provided: No VARIABLE ANNUITY LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY INC The Vice President, Business Development will be responsible for driving sales of institutional retirement plans, within an assigned territory, with tax-exempt and public sector employers, including healthcare, K-12, higher education, government, religious, charitable and other nonprofit organizations. This position will develop relationships with plan sponsor decision-makers, and industry consultants and advisors, who work within target market sectors for AIG Retirement Services (AIGRS). The position requires the candidate to be actively involved in prospecting new clients, reviewing RFP responses, participating in pricing discussions, and leading the finalist presentation team towards a successful outcome. Position Requirements: • Develop and maintain a sales pipeline capable of producing the required level of new group deposits. • Prospect for new business opportunities via cold calling, canvassing, developing relationships with centers-of-influence and attendance at national and regional association meetings and conferences. • Lead presentation team on all finalist presentations for new business within your territory. • Attend internal and external national and regional association meetings, consultant meetings, and brokerage firm meetings for the purpose of deepening relationships with existing clients and expanding relationships with prospective clients. Job Requirements: • 10 + years of experience selling products and services for large 401(a), 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) plans. • 5-7 years of experience prospecting for new business opportunities with proven results. Experience with cold calling, canvassing, and the ability to develop a sales pipeline is strongly desired. • Experience working directly with plan sponsor C level executives. • Ability to identify opportunities and needs in existing programs and implement corresponding AIGRS solutions • Solid understanding of qualified and non qualified pension markets. • Basic understanding of key relationship management skills. • Exceptional negotiation and sales skills. • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions. • Strong presentation skills. • College Degree. • FINRA Series 6 or 7, 63 or 65 and state insurance licenses. • Ability to travel in territory 50% of the time.
