The Accounts Payable Manager manages/coordinates all aspects of the Accounts Payable function. They are responsible for overseeing invoice processing and payments in accordance with established procedures, maintaining records, scanning documents, and communicating with vendors, training, organizing, and coordinating the Accounts Payable team. This is an Exempt position.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Job Functions:
Manages/coordinates all aspects of the Accounts Payable function, including vendor relations (payment, setup and research as necessary), and the A/P disbursement group which handles all vendor disbursements, positive pay, 1099 and related tax matters in an accurate and timely manner
Manages monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information for the Accounts Payable module; ensures accuracy of A/P related accounts
Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures and policies for Accounts Payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
Supports external auditor and/or taxing agent requests, as appropriate
Motivates and rewards employees including performance and compensation management within allocated budgets and company guidelines
Trains and evaluates employees, addresses performance issues, and makes recommendations for personnel actions
Coordinates internal and external vendor inquiries, including research and resolution
Manages escheatment process
Monitors group email to ensure that items are handled promptly and professionally
Monitors vendor agings and ensures aged items are worked to conclusion
Keeps current with industry standards as they apply to 1099 and vendor database and disbursement management

This position manages the Accounts Payable team

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience 5+ years full cycle A/P, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Research and work independently with minimal guidance and oversight
Ability to analytically make connections to spot trends, errors and oddities
Experience with ERP environment such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics
Understanding of accounting principles, cash forecasting and cash management
Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments in addition to daily activities
Read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other employees
