Legal Counsel The Legal Counsel will advise clients concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Review and interpret the requirements of governmental agencies, laws, statutes, rules, regulations and court decisions. Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit. Act as agent of corporation in various transactions. Represent region in litigation and other legal proceedings. Supervise outside attorneys retained to represent the region or company. Advise region concerning legal impact and implications of all regional functions, transactions and business. Prepare and negotiate business contracts, leases, consulting and subcontractor agreements and administer other legal matters. Assist in the preparation of owner and design agreements. Counsel operations staff regarding project issues and disputes. GENERAL BACKGROUND AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS College Degree, Law Degree and Admission to Practice Law. Knowledge of Construction Law.
