The Actuary/Senior Actuary - Consolidation/Downstream Model role will be responsible in helping to design a holistic, sustainable strategy to optimize the reporting functions of Finance; inclusive of both life and annuities, and both GAAP and STAT accounting frameworks. As such, the role will require expertise of actuarial concepts, programming, and system design, as well as creative thinking and solutioning. The focus will be on the models whose inputs are produced by the actuarial projection/valuation engines and whose outputs represent the various reporting metrics of the Finance organization. The position reports to the Director, Head of Consolidation/Downstream Models. The Actuary/Senior Actuary - Consolidation/Downstream Model role will be accountable for the timely and controlled development of the consolidation/downstream models and processes. - Responsibilities include: - Work with the model development team across all reporting bases; located across our NY-metro and Charlotte offices; - Understand and improve processes, infrastructure, and controls to ensure accurate and timely delivery of models and results; - Partner closely with the Valuations, Regulatory, Pricing and Risk Management teams in the development of sustainable calculation models, compliant with emerging regulatory frameworks, including statutory PBR valuation modeling, FASB Targeted Improvements, and NAIC VA Reform; - Ensure compliance with company model architecture standards and change management governance processes; - Support the development of actuarial talent within the team; create a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics and/or Actuarial Sciences. - Minimum ASA designation. - 5+ years of insurance modeling or valuation experience. - 5+ years of experience working with MS Excel/VBA is critical. Preferred Qualifications: - Strong background in end-to-end systems and process design. - Experience in designing, building and improving calculation engines and reporting processes. - Experience in designing and building databases. - Deep knowledge of life insurance and annuity products. - Effectively balancing multiple projects/responsibilities in working with key stakeholders. - Strong interpersonal/relationship management/communication skills. - Results oriented, accountable and motivated to take ownership of project(s). - Capacity and eagerness to challenge and influence in a highly collaborative way. - Strong aptitude for mentorship and project management ABOUT AXA We have been providing stability and reliability to our clients since 1859 to help them live their lives with confidence, to give them peace of mind, and enable them to realize their dreams for their loved ones and their legacy.
